Written in plain language so you can actually read it. It describes exactly what this platform does and does not do. It is not a substitute for advice from your own lawyer about your own situation.
- Who processes your data
- bitcoinGuide is an educational platform and acts as the controller for the data you leave here. Questions and requests can be sent through the contact details on the about page.
- What we store when you create an account
- Your email address and a password hash (handled by our authentication service), your language preference, and your own learning data: completed lessons, quiz attempts and scores, mistake log, bookmarks, lab progress, achievements, streak, goals you enter yourself, and optional watch-only addresses.
- What we store without an account
- Without signing in, nothing is sent to the server except the request for public network data. Your language choice and guest progress live only in your own browser storage and disappear when you clear it.
- What we never ask for
- Never a seed phrase, never a private key, never a wallet connection, never a transaction signature. Anyone asking for those, including in our name, cannot be trusted. Watch-only addresses are public by nature and grant no control over funds.
- Who can see it
- Rows are isolated per user in the database with row level security, so your learning data is readable and writable only by your own signed-in session. You appear on the leaderboard or in the forum only if you opt in; then your display name, level and score are visible to other members. Everyone sees the same default Bitcoin avatar icon; we do not upload or store profile pictures.
- Processors and third parties
- Hosting, database and authentication run on our cloud provider. Live network figures are fetched from public explorers (mempool.space, Blockstream) and a price source (Coinbase); they see the server's IP address, not yours. French, German and Spanish translations pass through an AI translation service that receives only the visible page text, never your account data.
- Advertising and tracking
- No ad trackers, no fingerprinting, no selling of data, no profile building for advertising.
- Retention
- Learning data is kept while your account exists. Delete your account and the related rows are removed. Aggregate, non-identifying counts (such as how many lessons were completed in total) may remain.
- Your rights
- You can request access, correction, export or deletion, and you can opt out of the leaderboard and of reminders without losing your account. Deletion is requested from account settings.
- Notifications
- Browser notifications (low fees, difficulty, streak) work only after your explicit permission and are handled locally in your browser. You can withdraw permission at any time in browser settings.
